GAINESVILLE, FLA– Will Stoops and the Wildcats be stumped for the 32nd straight year in  row as they open up SEC play against their nemesis the Florida Gators on the road in “The Swamp ?” Both these ball clubs having looking for a fresh start and redemption. For the Cats they are hoping that their patience and investment in Stoops and company will finally flourish. On the other hand the Gators are looking to see if that Mullen Magic wasn’t just made in Mississippi.

They say patience is virtue but when it comes to being a ball club in a conference like the SEC that saying has a short shelf. It’s no secret that for sometime Kentucky Football has yearned to stop living in the shadows of basketball and find its own success. The Cats head honcho, Mark Stoops enters his sixth season at Kentucky during the course of this time Stoops  has made great strides and advocated to trust the process and that the Cats time is coming.

Even with the evident improvements that have been made patience is wearing thin for the Big Blue Nation. The CATS need a big win today for a  slew of reasons ( I mean I don’t know about the rest of you but after 31 consecutive ass whoopings you think that alone is enough motivation to pull out whatever it takes to come out with a win). I would think that even with his contract extension into 2022 that their is any room for another Stoops Slump in this series.

Can the” Mullen Mojo” finally be the medicine to get the Gators back on top? Dan Mullen is no stranger to the importance of “The Streak” in fact it was exactly a decade ago in Mullens final year as the Gators Offensive Coordinator that Florida made it # 22 straight. A win today would put it at #32 and put Florida in a tie for the  third longest streak in college football history.

Kick-Off Keys To The Game

Keys For The Cats

Whether you caught that Cats season opener in person or on the big screen you know that the first half was filled with turnovers. The Cats can afford to make that a habit especially in this evenings conference opener. I surely hope  Kentucky’s anchorman, QB Terry Wilson wont make the same mistake twice. ( Wilson accounted for three of the four turnovers Kentucky had against Central Michigan). The Cats need to make sure they secure the ball I can’t emphasize that enough. If they think they can have nearly close to 4 turnovers like they did in Week 1 and win they have a rude awakening coming.

Snell The Roses

No that isn’t a spelling over look on my keys there. If you haven’t heard of  Jr. RB, Benny Snell Jr. by now you can be sure you will here is name today. He along with Sophomore, RB A.J Rose are rushing match made in Big Blue Heaven. Of the total 299 rush yards the Cats managed against Central Michigan 229 of those were courtesy of Snell & Rose. This  may not be the easiest task off the jump against a more challenging team like the Gators. But the Cats are going to need all the help they can get and a great deal of it will need to come from this RB duo tonight once again not just racking up yards but also putting points on the board.

While these days in the SEC most of the weight is carried by the success of the Offenses the Defense still needs to show up especially if your going against a QB like Florida’s Feleipe Franks across the line who had a heck of performance against Central Michigan last week. Will he live up to FLAWLESS FELIPE against an SEC opponent? While the Gator offense chomped over Charleston Southern look for the Cats dark knights, linebacker Josh Allen and safety Mike Edwards  to pose challenge for Florida and Feleipe Franks that could turn the tables.

Keys For The Gators

Flawless Felipe

After just one game it looks like Mullens’ Mojo has given QB Feleipe Franks and his arsenal a makeover. Franks threw for 219 yards and accounted for 5 touchdowns in their victory season opener. Granted it was Central Michigan you can see a difference that Mullens’ off season regiment has helped Franks grown. Look for the Gators front line to continue to be built on Franks’ fluidity and flawless in a heated match up under the lights at home. I forgot to mention that Franks sat out the 2nd half since he led the Gators to such a significant lead. So just imagine what sort of production he could account for in todays match up for a full game. Watch Out is all I have to say.

Defend The Home Front

The Cats came to play against Charleston Southern and only gave up one first down in the first half and only three for the remainder of the game. They will be tested by the Cats rushing attack offense and jut the pure momentum this rivalry brings. Look for the Gators to depend on a big game from Chauncey Gardner-Johnson and company. The key will be for them to put as much pressure to get Terry Wilson into a funk once again and cause him to make the same mistake twice in turnovers.

This game is going to get interesting real quick from the looks of things and don’t be surprised if goes into OT in in the Swamp tonight. We shall see in a few hours.
